KWE Festival

KWE began in 2017 with the vision of creating a major gathering in the heart of Québec City as part of the celebrations marking Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation. At its core, the event also served as a reminder that Indigenous Peoples have lived on these lands since time immemorial, long before Confederation.

Initiated by the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador and supported by Indigenous Services Canada, the first edition of KWE brought together the 11 Indigenous Nations of Quebec in a spirit of celebration, cultural exchange, and dialogue. The name KWE, meaning “hello” in several First Nations languages, symbolizes an open invitation to meet, connect, and build understanding.

Following the success of its inaugural edition, a non-profit organization was created in 2018 to carry forward the festival’s mission and expand its work toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Since then, KWE has grown into a flagship annual event in Québec City, welcoming more than 20,000 visitors each year and serving as a vibrant platform for sharing Indigenous cultures, traditions, and perspectives.

The Arctic is a vast place, and the South-Eastern-most part of it is in the Canadian province of Quebec. Many artists have stemmed from that region, including: Elisapie Isaac, Charlie Taqqik, Beatrice Deer, Kathy Aputiarjuk, Johnny Saunders, among many others.

This year, singer-songwriter Johnny, known as Yaa, will take the stage at the KWE Festival in the vibrant city of Québec. For many years, Yaa has been writing, performing, and sharing his music, becoming a source of pride and inspiration for his community, his region, and the country as a whole.

Beyond his music, Yaa has made meaningful contributions to the work carried out by All Arctic over the years. He represents the very spirit of what the organization strives to foster: resilience, cultural pride, and the empowerment of future generations. As a strong voice for the Inuktitut language and Inuit identity, Yaa continues to play an important role in preserving and uplifting his culture through both his art and his actions.

This event seeks to celebrate the First Nations and Inuit artists from Québec.

Yaa, one of few artists to lead the show, performed at the Arctic Inspiration Prize Ceremony 2026 in Whitehorse, Yukon. All Arctic was delighted to enjoy this live performance, moments before accepting this grand accolade prize.

Yaa, also known as Johnny Saunders, performing for participants of the Qaulirmat Youth Leadership Program at Ikusik School in Salluit, Nunavik (Northern Québec). An extraordinary Canadian artist, Johnny’s story, talent, and authenticity continue to inspire youth across the North and beyond. Through his music and lived experiences, he carries a powerful message of resilience, identity, and hope—one that has the potential to inspire millions across the world.

Yaa, through his pious devotion to God, has saved lives by welcoming and inviting others to follow His word. His devout commitment to the Holy Script has played a huge role in his life.

All Arctic had the privilege of welcoming Yaa to The Shack Podcast. In this episode, Yaa shares how his journey into music began, opens up about his personal story, and speaks about everything from his favourite country food to his favourite store in Kuujjuaq. Through honest storytelling and the lessons woven into his music, Yaa continues to inspire the next generation, showing how authenticity can be a powerful way to uplift and connect with youth.

Yaa’s music is a breath of fresh air that not only serves to inspire others, but to soothe their ears into melody. The youth at Qaulirmat get to learn from many local and regional leaders. Music is a language that channels a message that words cannot convey. Yaa is a strong supporter of youth initiatives in the region. His art carries a message of strength, hope, and also breathes life into every space he enters. Johnny Saunders sings both in Inuktitut and English. Tune in to listen to Yaa’s discography.

2026 Better Future Forum

Bringing together diverse leaders in global education to connect, learn together, and take collective action towards growing all students holistically so they can shape a better future.

Building on the foundation of the 2025 Global Forum for Shaping a Better Future, which convened 200 education leaders from over 50 countries, the Better Future Forum aims to establish itself as an annual event that brings together diverse leaders in the broader global education ecosystem to connect, learn together, and take collective action towards growing all students holistically so they can shape a better future.

The three-day Forum, organised by the Global Institute for Shaping a Better Future, will be hosted on 12-14 May 2026 atthe PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay in Singapore, where the Global Institute is based. In this second year of the Forum, we look forward to welcoming back a core community of returning participants dedicated to enabling collaborative learning and action, as well as new attendees to add to the collective wisdom in the room. There will also be more opportunities for participant-led and co-created programming to highlight emerging evidence, research, and insights, and to learn directly from the lived experience of leaders working at all levels of the global education ecosystem. The Forum remains unique in its purpose to bring people together to develop the collective leadership needed to reshape education globally. It is not a platform for promoting technical interventions, but rather a space to reflect together and engage in authentic conversation, debate, and learning to forge the deep relationships needed to do this challenging work. While not the only ingredient, systemic progress in education relies heavily on the human capacity and leadership of people at all levels of a system aligning behind a common vision and moving it forward together.

Arctic Indigenous Investment Conference

to May 7

Arctic Indigenous Investment Conference

All Arctic is honoured to have been extended an invitation to the Arctic Indigenous Investment Conference 2026 in Whitehorse, Yukon. All Arctic was Laureate of the Arctic Inspiration Prize 2026 (Youth Category). The North is faced with the geo-political reality of Arctic sovereignty threats, challenges, and opportunities. As a way to strengthen sovereignty, employment creation, and adaptation to new technologies, All Arctic has been on a journey to streamline opportunities for youth to access STEM and aviation career opportunities. In winning this prize, which is the biggest prize across the Canadian Arctic, we are now playing in the ring of airspace. The Arctic Drone Soccer Program is an Inuit-led youth initiative that uses drone soccer to introduce Inuit and northern youth to STEM, aviation, and drone technologies. The program blends hands-on learning, teamwork, and friendly competition to spark curiosity while building practical, future-oriented skills. Participants engage in workshops where they learn to build, code, repair, and safely operate drones while competing in drone soccer matches. This fosters technical proficiency, but also confidence, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. The program will collaborate with local Air Inuit pilots, educators, and aviation and drone industry partners that connects youth learning to real-world applications and careers. College-aged Inuit participants will be trained as facilitators, creating employment pathways that recognize and value their skills while strengthening local program delivery. The program aims to inspire continued engagement in education and cultivate the next generation of Inuit-led innovation. Join us as we spend a few days with professionals, investors, government officials, and other Northerners around the topic of investment and infrastructure in the Arctic.

Arctic Inspiration Prize 2026

What is the Arctic Inspiration Prize ?

The Arctic Inspiration Prize (AIP) is the largest annual prize in Canada. By celebrating and providing seed-funding to Northern teams with innovative project ideas, the AIP supports Northerners in bringing initiatives to life that bring about the changes they want to see in their communities.

The Arctic Inspiration Prize is by the North and for the North and is a community of people and groups, including Indigenous organizations, academia, governments, non-governmental organizations, industry, philanthropy, media and arts and culture organizations, who share a common goal: to recognize northern innovation and excellence and encourage teamwork for the betterment of life in Canada’s North.

All Arctic, an Inuit-led non-profit organization, nominated by Makivvik Corporation

All Arctic, an Inuit-led non-profit organization, has been nominated and became finalist for the Arctic Inspiration Youth Prize. Pita Aatami, the President of Makivvik Corporation, graciously nominated this Program to enter the competitive prize as a nominee.

Our territory faces unique challenges and opportunities as technology rapidly transforms industries critical to northern life—logistics, environmental monitoring, resource development, and even sovereignty. The Arctic Drone Soccer Program introduces our youth to these technologies in a way that is practical, exciting, and culturally relevant. Through this program, participants learn to assemble, code, repair, and fly drones while developing confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills. These experiences not only inspire students to stay engaged in school but also open pathways to careers in aviation, STEM, and emerging northern industries.
— Pita Aatami - President of Makivvik Corporation

The Arctic Drone Soccer Program as a Finalist to the AIP 2026

All Arctic, promoter of the Arctic Drone Soccer Program, became a finalist to the Arctic Inspiration Prize 2026. This year, the Award Ceremony Award was held at the Kwanlin Dun Centre, in Whitehorse (Yukon). The team travelled to Whitehorse to attend the event, and was pleasantly surprised with a Winning Award.

The Arctic Inspiration Prize 2026 Award Ceremony was recorded live at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Change in action, only possible with a strong team

A forward-looking Program, for the youth

At All Arctic, we know that the youth are holders, shapers, and contributors of the future. Our youth delegate, Asiva Papigatuk, from Salluit, has been actively engaging with and contributing to the Qaulirmat Youth Leadership Program, which he has been a part of for the past 4 years. Over the school gaps, which include the summer vacation period, the Holiday season, and March break, youth of the Qaulirmat Youth Leadership Program have been reiterating their need to voice their opinions, collaborate together, and keep being active in their home communities. The Arctic Drone Soccer Program is meant to be a new exciting component of this Leadership Program in Nunavik. Currently, this Program is fostered in the communities of Quaqtaq, Puvirnituq, and Salluit. Asiva, as a youth leader, has been promoting and sharing the importance of education and leadership in his home community. Through this Program, he has successfully caught his first caribou, during a group hunting/fishing trip. Our team would like to thank the Arctic Inspiration Prize for supporting this Program, which only serves to inspire and help us grow the work we do in our home communities.

World Schools Summit 2025

Leadership for a Better World

Education at the Crossroads:

Leading the change our world needs

In 2025, the world stands at a crossroads. We must take urgent action to halt runaway climate change, adapt as AI revolutionises our economies, promote peace in the face of destructive conflicts, and tackle the most enduring inequalities. A better world is possible, but only if leaders from across the planet, from governments to businesses, NGOs, academia and tech, recognise that at the heart of all these crucial questions lies education.

That is why the World Schools Summit 2025 brings these key decision-makers together with the leaders of the world’s best schools to learn from those at the coalface of education, to forge new ways of thinking, with a common understanding and ambition for all our futures.
